About the hauora question bank

The four dimensions follow Te Whare Tapa Whā, developed by Tā Mason Durie: taha tinana (physical), taha hinengaro (mental and emotional), taha whānau (family and social), and taha wairua (spiritual). Whenua is the foundation. These dimensions are connected; the labels help teachers select a focus.

There are 100 original discussion questions per year group, 25 per dimension. Mixed sets choose one from each; focused sets choose four from one dimension. Recent questions are avoided where possible. Year groups suggest starting points; teachers review wording and relevance for their learners.

Spiritual wellbeing prompts explore meaning, identity, beliefs, values and connection. Children decide what to share. These are Hauora Education practice prompts, not an assessment or an officially ranked question set. They have not been independently reviewed by Māori education specialists.

Using the cards

Choose four questions your class can discuss comfortably. Children find a partner, take turns talking and listening, then collect a signature and move to someone new. Years 3–4, 5–6 and 7–8 each have their own scorecard artwork and original questions. Years 1–2 use a series of picture activities. To save a PDF, choose Print / Save PDF and select Save as PDF in your browser. Your questions stay in this page and are not sent to a server.
